December 17, 2025
Leadership Mobile’s Class of 2026 gathered for its Economic Development Seminar, an in-depth exploration of the forces shaping Mobile’s present and future economy. Sponsored by Alabama Power and curated by leaders deeply invested in the city’s growth, the seminar created space for meaningful dialogue around development, innovation, and opportunity. Through conversations led by representatives from the Mobile Chamber, Downtown Mobile Alliance, and Innovation Portal, participants examined the evolving economic landscape of Mobile—from downtown redevelopment and workforce pipelines to education partnerships and entrepreneurship. The seminar highlighted both the progress being made and the challenges that remain, offering a balanced view of where Mobile stands and where it is headed. Class members also heard firsthand perspectives from local leaders and innovators who are building businesses, investing in people, and choosing to grow their work in Mobile. These discussions connected economic development theory to lived experience, grounding big-picture ideas in real stories of risk, resilience, and growth. The day was rounded out with talks, tours, and pitches that encouraged participants to think critically about their own role in Mobile’s economic future—reinforcing that leadership in this space requires collaboration across sectors, sustained commitment, and a willingness to invest in long-term outcomes.
