Learning the Power of Prototyping
November 3, 2025
Peer Link participants spent time at Innovation Portal exploring the role of prototyping as part of their ongoing work in technology and peer support. The session offered students hands-on experience with tools and concepts that will help bring their ideas to life as they continue developing the Peer Link app ahead of its planned launch next year.During the visit, participants learned how prototyping allows ideas to evolve through testing, feedback, and iteration. Rather than striving for perfection on the first attempt, students were encouraged to experiment, problem-solve, and refine their designs. This approach helped make the app development process feel more accessible and collaborative—reinforcing that progress is built through learning and adaptation.Peer Link’s visit to Innovation Portal focused on building technical confidence while reinforcing leadership skills rooted in empathy, collaboration, and adaptability.
Tangible Impact
Hands-On Technical Learning:
Participants gained practical experience with prototyping concepts and tools, including exposure to 3D printing and iterative design processes.
Increased Confidence:
By engaging directly with new technologies, students built confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the app development process.
Skill Development Beyond Technology:
The session strengthened problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability—skills essential to both leadership and peer support.
Why This Mattered to Mobile United
This experience reinforced a core goal of Peer Link: empowering students to lead with empathy while developing practical skills that support real-world impact. By connecting technology with peer support, participants saw how thoughtful design and iteration can strengthen tools meant to serve others.
As Peer Link participants continue preparing for their app’s launch, experiences like this help bridge learning and application—building both technical capability and confidence. Mobile United is grateful to the Innovation Portal team for creating a welcoming, hands-on learning environment and sharing their expertise. Their commitment to innovation and education helped students see new possibilities for how technology can support mental health, connection, and care among young people.
