Mobile United General Membership meetings


September 9, 2008 - Mayor Sam Jones will make a presentation on the proposed annexation plan that will incorporate additional segments of west Mobile into the City of Mobile. These areas are: A section of Theodore and Tillman’s Corner; A subdivision and commercial stretch along Moffett Road; Two subdivisions along Snow Road; and The Windmill Place subdivision just west of Cody Road.


October 14, 2008 - "Eyes Wide Open: Adolescent Risky Behavior" Exploring the economic and social impact on the community, economy, family and workforce development. Dr. Vaughn Millner: Associate Professor and Chair Department of Interdisciplinary studies; Associate Professor Department of Professional Studies, University of South Alabama.

Clickers, sometimes called Personal Response Systems, are instructional technology tools used in presentations that help to promote active participation, engagement and discussion as well as to assess knowledge. Clickers will be used in this presentation.


November 11, 2008 - Kevin Harrison, South Alabama Regional Planning Commission will talk about the Metropolitan Planning Organization, its function and programs
Federal Requirement: To efficiently and effectively coordinate the use of federal funding for transportation projects, the Governor designates a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in each urban area having a population of at least 50,000 people or greater (as per the Federal Highway Act of 1962).


All Mobile United General Membership Meetings begin at 7:30 a.m. (Unless otherwise noted) at the International Trade Club at 250 North Water Street with coffee and continental breakfast beginning at 7:00 a.m. Meetings last approximately one hour.

Leadership Mobile and Youth Leadership Mobile are two additional programs of Mobile United. These once-yearly programs provide leadership-development training to approximately forty adult and one hundred youth participants each year. These two programs further strengthen the community and provide the Mobile United network with new and dedicated community stewards.
